MacOS - Installation and Configuration of Firefox v54.0
Installation
- Head to the downloads folder in your Finder and click on the .dmg file that was downloaded
- It is recommended to disconnect from the internet to ensure Firefox doesn't update automatically after installation.
- Drag the Firefox application to the Applications folder and allow it to copy to your machine. (overwrite current Firefox if installed)
- Locate and open the Firefox app in the Applications folder. At this stage one of two things will occur:
- In one case your computer should reflect the following screen, if so simply click "Open" to proceed
- In the other case the following screen will appear, if so follow the instructions below to proceed
- Open System Preferences and click "Security and Privacy"
- Head to the "General" tab
- Under "Allow apps downloaded from:" there should be the option to "Open Anyway" for the blocked Firefox app
- Type in the password for your computer account to proceed
- If a pop-up appears simply press the "Open" button
- In one case your computer should reflect the following screen, if so simply click "Open" to proceed
Initial Configuration
(Ensure your machine is not connected to the open Internet)
- Open the Mozilla Firefox app onto the main page answering all the pop-ups as they appear
- Click on the button in the top right with three parallel horizontal lines and click on the option labeled "Preferences"
- Click on "Advanced" on the left panel and navigate to the "Update" tab
- Choose the option to "Never check for updates"
