Shared Formulas

Shared Formulas

The Shared Formula functionality within Abacus allows you to share formulas with other projects within your Jira instance. This is helpful for eliminating the need to create multiple formulas if the same functionality is needed within multiple projects.

Requirements:

  • An existing formula.

  • The project you are sharing the formula with needs to have all the fields referenced in the formula on a least one of its create, view, or edit screens.

Sharing Formulas

  1. Start by navigating to the formula screen of the formula you want to share.

  1. Select the symbol in the bottom right corner of the screen. From here you'll be able to type in the name of the project you want to share the formula with.

  2. Select the desired project in the drop-down menu to share this formula with it.

    1. If you want to share the formula with all projects in the instance simply check the box labeled "Share with all".

Any changes made to a shared formula will carry over to all projects that have adopted the formula

Formula Adoption

Once a formula is shared with other projects, the project(s) it was shared with must adopt the formula in order to use it in any execution plans.

  1. Navigate to Abacus within the project you've shared your formula with.

  2. Click on the ‘Formulas’ tab.

  3. In the list of formulas, you should see the name of the formula. To adopt the formula click on the three-dot ellipses in the row of the formula and then select ‘Adopt formula’.

  4. You're done! You can now use this formula with this project.

In order to discard a shared formula from a project it is shared with it must be deleted within said project.

A shared formula can only be removed if it is adopted or in use by a single project.
